HOW THE TOURNAMENT WORKS

BUY-IN: $10 Buy-in, NO Re-buys

Each player will receive 200 worth of “tournament bucks” in chips for their $10 buy-in. You are eliminated from the tourney when you lose all your chips. The tourney will not stop (except for short breaks) until one player holds all the chips. That player will be declared the winner. The last player eliminated will be the 2nd place finisher, the second last player eliminated will be the 3rd place finisher, etc..
There are NO Re-buys at any point.
There will be a table and chips available for side games.

BLINDS: How much are the bets?

This is NO LIMIT tournament so there is no maximum bet. A player may go “All-In” and bet their entire chip stack.
A blind is a forced bet by the two players to the left of the dealer. Blind bets are made without looking at your cards. Click here for info on how Texas Hold 'Em and blinds work.
Blinds start small ($1 small blind and $2 big blind) and increase every 20 minutes. (Schedule here) A computer will be used for blind progression.
The large blind is the also the minimum bet allowed. Unless going all-in, the opening bet must be at least equal to the big blind bet and any raise must be at least equal to the previous bet or raise on that betting round.

PAYOUT: How much can I win? What is the house take?

All money will be paid out. The payout equals all the buy-ins. $5 of pot goes to TOC money pot.
Payout is 1st = 50% 2nd = 30% 3rd = 20% (For 3-20 Players)
There is no “house take.” I will have a can set up for donations to help pay for food and pop.
If there is more than 20 players the payout is 1st = 50% 2nd = 30% 3rd = 15% 4th = 5%

SEATING:

Each table will seat up to 10 players. Seating assignments are random. How players get reassigned may vary. Sometimes a computer will be used. Other times we will reassign players during the color-up or as needed. Final 10 players remaining move to the Final Table.

CHIP COLOUR UP:

At certain points of the game lower denomination chips are replaced with higher chips. The lowest denomination of chip in play will be removed from the table when it is no longer needed in the blind or ante structure.
All lower-denomination chips that are of sufficient quantity for a new chip will be changed up directly.
The method for removal of odd chips is to deal one card to a player for each odd chip possessed.
All odd chips are collected and converted to higher denomination chips.
For example. 13 Red (5) chips are exchanged for 2 Green (25) chips. There are 3 Red (5) chips remaining. Since 3 Red (5) chips is greater than half of a Green (25) chip - a third Green (25) will be given out. The dealer replaces the 3 Red (5) chips for 1 Green (25) chip.
Cards are dealt clockwise starting with the 1-seat, with each player receiving all cards before any cards are dealt to the next player.
The player with the highest card by suit (Spade, Hearts, Clubs, Diamonds) gets one new chip.
The second-highest card gets to the next chip, and so forth, until all the higher-denomination chips are given out.
A player cannot be raced out of a tournament. In the event that a player has only one chip left, the regular race procedure will take place. If that player loses the race, he will be given one chip of the smallest denomination still in play.

THE BOUNTY HUNT:

For those that are interested they can pay an extra $5 to be part of the "Bounty Hunt".
Bounties are purchased at initial buy-in only.
Each Bounty Player gets a special token. When one Bounty Player eliminates another Bounty Player they claim the others token.
All bounty tokens must stay on the table to identify if you are a Bounty Player.
When you are eliminated by a Bounty Player, you ONLY give YOUR bounty token and NOT bounty tokens you have accumulated to that point. Once you win a bounty token, it’s all yours to cash in.
After you are eliminated from the tourney, turn in each bounty token you have collected (plus yours, if you still have it) for $5 each!
Only Bounty Players may collect bounties when knocking out others. You gotta pay to play! HAPPY HUNTING!

LATE PLAYERS: What if I am going to be late (even if I have a really, really good excuse)?

Try and get there on time. If you are running late give me a call.
If you have reserved a seat but do not arrive in time, at the Tournament Directors discretion, you will be assigned a seat and chips and your blinds will be posted in your absence.

PLAYERS LEAVING: What if I get sleepy and want to go home?

This is a tournament so you should be committing to play the whole thing. The blinds are structured so the longest it will last is about 5 hours. Besides you’ll be out long before that!
You can’t just give your chips to someone if you want to leave. If you must leave you can forfeit all your remaining chips which are split evenly among the remaining players at that table. Odd chips are returned to the bank.
There will be no refunds or cash-outs given to players who leave after the first hand of the tourney is dealt.

What if I need a Smoke Break?
First off you have to go outside. No Smoking in Mike's Poker Den.
You may leave the table however play does not stop. Play will only stop for designated breaks and briefly for seating reassignments.
If a player leaves the table for any reason he will fold every hand that occurs during his absence. (Dealer continues to deal two cards to the absent player)
Players remaining at the table, or another person designated by the absentee, will post all blinds for the absent player.
If the missing player is moved to another table, his chips will move and he will continue to blind appropriately at the new table.
